Are you looking for a rejuvenating treatment that will improve the overall quality and health of your skin? Dr. George Varkarakis offers platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments for skin rejuvenation at his plastic surgery practice in Miami. PRP therapy rejuvenates the skin from the cellular level by stimulating the production of collagen, regenerating damaged tissues, and creating new blood cells to reduce the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles, and improve the overall tone and texture of your skin.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy injects plasma containing concentrated levels of platelets into the designated treatment area. The platelets help stimulate the growth of new collagen, regenerate new tissues, and stimulate increased blood flow in the treatment area. PRP is considered an autologous treatment because it is created from the patient’s own blood. When used for aesthetic purposes, PRP therapy can help tighten and tone the skin, reduce the appearance of scarring, smooth uneven tone and texture, and improve the overall quality of the skin.
In order to achieve optimal results, we typically recommend patients have at least three PRP therapy treatments spaced about four to eight weeks apart. The number of treatments required to achieve optimal results can vary from patient to patient.
The results of this treatment develop gradually as the PRP is improving your skin’s health at the cellular level. About a month after your first treatment, you will begin to notice an improvement in your skin’s texture, with optimal results being seen about three months after your initial treatment. The results of PRP therapy typically last for 18 to 24 months and can be enhanced with a touch-up procedure after one year. Results may vary.
There is little to no downtime associated with PRP therapy. Most patients are able to return to their normal routine immediately following a treatment session.
There are no side effects associated with PRP therapy because it is an autologous treatment. Some patients may experience some injection-related side effects such as mild swelling, bruising, or irritation at the injection site.
